Welcome to W-MU Title 1 Math and Reading Program
Title 1 Math and Reading
What is Title 1?
It is a government funded program most often in the areas of math and reading. It is designed to help children having difficulties in math or reading by giving them more time in those areas with a qualified teacher.
We know that children learn at different rates. This is a wonderful chance of opportunity for help because of test scores and/or recommendation of the classroom teacher or request of parent/s.
Each child will receive lessons that supplement the materials from the classroom. They will be shown different strategies to help them in areas of difficulty. There are smaller numbers so there are hands on activities to help them understand the skill/s. A major theme is developing self-esteem and confidence. so each child in Title 1 will experience some academic successes.
The children come for about 30 minutes 5 days a week for each subject they have qualified for. They will be NOT be missing regular classroom math or reading instruction because this is extra from that. They may miss a study time or other non-instructable time. Their teacher and I make every effort to create the optimum schedule for all the children involved.
If you have any questions after the Title 1 Parent Meeting or any time please call me at 257-7702 ext.134. Feel free to visit the classroom at any time! Talk to your child about the class. Your interest in what they do at school makes a BIG difference.I will also be meeting with you during Parent/Teacher Conferences with a scheduled time coordinating with your classroom teachers time. You will get an update from me at conference time about what we have been doing and things they still may need to work on.
